Masters Historic Racing has today confirmed a major change to its 2026 calendar, announcing that its flagship weekend event will now take place at Monza from 24 to 26 July 2026, replacing the previously planned fixture at the BRDC Classic at Silverstone.
In a statement released on 27 December 2025, Masters shed light on the reasons for the venue change, attributing the decision to logistical challenges posed by the revised Classic format at Silverstone. The event organiser at Silverstone indicated that the switch back to the National Paddock, and the discontinuation of the use of the International Paddock, would result in split garage allocations. Masters would have been limited to a “maximum of five National garages, which are both smaller and less suitable than those previously available, falling short of the standards expected for a Masters Historic Racing meeting.“
The BRDC Classic, meanwhile, is set to return to its roots with a single paddock arrangement—removing the need for spectators to make the lengthy trek between the National Paddock and the Grand Prix pits. While this change streamlines the event for fans, it has perhaps created logistical hurdles for larger race organisations such as Masters.
This announcement follows closely on the heels of yesterday’s update from Motor Racing Legends, with the evolving picture for the 2026 historic racing season becoming clearer. The question now remains as to where competitors from the 1966-1985 F1 and 1995–2012 Sports Racer categories will choose to compete, but there is hope that both events will enjoy strong grids and continued success.
