Top UK Historic Motorsport Events in July 2025

July is quite hectic because not only are there some mouthwatering UK events, some will be lucky enough to attend the bi-annual (annual from 2026 see this post) Le Mans Classic at La Sarthe. Likewise the British GP at Silverstone takes place on 4th to 6th July. But we shall stick to the UK Historic/Classic scene.

5/6 July

Equipe Classic Racing

Donington Park is the venue for what must be a big weekend for this organiser. The two-day programme includes all of the nine regular series, plus a new for 2025 6hrs race. Interestingly the organisers have stipulated “no professional teams” for the big race but professional drivers can be part of a team. With the Le Mans Classic on the same weekend it will be interesting to see who and what is entered. I’m planning on being there with cameras and I understand that the Gilbern I shared with David Smith and Iain Rowley at Spa Francorchamps in 2022 is entered.

Details can be found here: https://equipeclassicracing.com/calendar/

Classic Sports Car Club

The club heads to Snetterton on the largest configuration (the 300). The following categories will be attending:

Classic K; Jaguar Challenge; Swinging Sixties; Midget and Sprite Challenge; Future Classics; Modern Classics; Magnificent Sevens; Jaguar Championship; Tin Tops; Puma Cup; RX8 Trophy; Slicks; BMW Championship; Morgan Challenge.

10 to 13 July

Goodwood Festival of Speed

All the details here but this is the annual race up the hill for the great and the good in motorsport. Always entertaining and always crowded but a must do for anyone interested in out-and-out speed.

12/13 July – Historic Sports Car Club

Brands Hatch plays host to the HSCC who will be running the Legends of Brands Hatch Superprix GP with the following championships: Classic Formula Ford: SDC • Derek Bell Trophy: Nova / HPT ; Guards Trophy GT & SR; Historic Formula 3; Historic Formula Ford; Historic Formula Ford 2000; Historic Roadsports; 70s Road Sports; Historic Saloons Pre ’66. See https://hscc.org.uk/event/brands-hatch-gp-3/

20 July

The Stoke Row and Nuffield Motorsport Day……..

..in aid of charities local to the two villages is today. There are classic car displays, there is an entry fee which goes to the charities but just turn up in a classic and you’ll find yourself in a display.

The event coincides with the start and finish of the Maharajah’s Tour, organised by the Craven Motor Club https://www.stokerowmotorsport.org/

Beer tent, cars, BBQ and cake stalls, so all the things us petrolheads love. With luck a few racing drivers/team managers might be found amongst the attendees.

25/26/27 July

Historic Sports Car Club with; CSCC; HRDC; VSCC; FJHRA; and, HGPCA

Organised by the HSCC the annual Oulton Park Gold Cup is one of the best historic “club” events on the calendar. Gone are the days of full fledged F1 and F2 machinery with professional teams. These days it’s a celebration of historic and classic club motorsport. The HSCC Championships appearing are:

Derek Bell Trophy Nova / HPT; Guards Trophy GT & SR; Historic Formula 3; Historic Roadsports; 70s Road Sports. See https://hscc.org.uk/event/oulton-park-7/

The HRDC will be bringing the Dunlop Allstars and Alfa Challenge; The Gerry Marshall Trophy; and, the Jack Sears Trophy. See https://hrdc.uk/

The CSCC will be bringing its Special Saloons and Modsports. See https://www.classicsportscarclub.co.uk/special-saloons-and-modsports

The VSCC will run two races as “teams” so two drivers sharing a car over the weekend. See https://www.vscc.co.uk/page/events?eventID=1989

The Formula Junior Historic Racing Association will be in attendance. See https://www.vscc.co.uk/page/events?eventID=1989

And finally, the HGPCA will once again bring its Pre 66 Formula 1 grids for Front engine and Rear engine cars. See https://hscc.org.uk/event/oulton-park-7/.

There will be club displays here, so I’ll try to bring my XJR-S and join the XJS Club gathering.

I will be at this one, armed with cameras.

And finally,

Wherever you go I hope you have a good time.
