First weekend of November sees the two day Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone. A celebration of the original 1600cc Formula Ford series which first appeared in 1967 (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Formula_Ford).
For me, there’s the monthly Cars and Coffee meet at the Jackson and Phillips garage in Leighton Buzzard on Sunday 2nd from 10am. Organised by the Car Collective, there’s always a good selection of cars from Classics to Supercars.
Then on the weekend of 8 to 10 November the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show at the NEC showcases the Classic Car industry with Club displays, an autojumble, an auction, plus lots of car sales companies. Look out for one of only two known Janspeed twin turbo Rover SD1 3500s on the SD1 stand.
Those who enjoy the excitement of rallying could do worse than heading to Carlisle for the Anglo Caledonia Rally which incorporates the Roger Albert Clark Rally. Loads of classic and historic rally cars will be seen in their natural habitat on 23/24 November. See https://www.facebook.com/RogerAlbertClark/?locale=en_GB for details.
Finally and to round the month off, the Vintage Sports Car Club (VSCC) will be holding their final driving tests for 2024 at Bicester Heritage on 30th November. They suggest this is a “gentle entry into motorsport” but from the looks of determination on the faces of the competitors, you’d think they were entering Le Mans!
After Cars and Coffee, I plan to take in the Classic Motor Show and the VSCC Winter Tests, how about you?
